Eriks eTap Balcom S

The aesthetic of a bike matter. To us it matters a lot. To Erik, it also matters. When it was time to for Erik to build a new road bike, he approached it equally focused on aesthetics and performance. Since it's a bike he plans on spending a lot of time with, it better look as good as it is fast.

Bike of the Week - Trevor's eTap Balcom S

Trevor's eTap Balcom S

While his previous two Franco's had been mechanical, he chose electronic shifting this time-around in the form of the all-new SRAM Red eTap. The second distinction was in wheel choice. Having ridden a variety of wheelsets, from Mavic to HED, this time he chose Zipp's Firecrest carbon clinchers. Lastly, he didn't want color on this Balcom S frameset, so we went with a monochromatic grayscale finish. Zipp components chosen for his specific needs finished off this timeless build.

Bike of the Week - Joshua's Kanan

Joshua's Kana

When Joshua got in touch about a new Kanan, he came prepared with the idea for his bike build and inspiration for his custom paint. A Shimano Ultegra drivetrain was chosen for its proven track-record and subtle aesthetic. Having previously ridden deep Zipp carbon clinchers, a set of 808 Firecrest clinchers with black on black decals were a must for Joshua. These wheels called for matching Zipp components throughout, so the new Zipp SL Speed components finished off this build.

Bike of the Week - Fred's Custom Painted Balcom S

Fred's Balcom S

What’s special about bicycles is that they enable you to do something you love. Whether you ride for exercise, fun or transportation, there is an inherent joy that riding bikes brings us. As you gain more experience on the bike, more opportunities present themselves. For some people it’s a century, for others it’s racing and for most it’s about getting out there just to ride. But seeing your goals through takes a lot of time and effort. On brutally cold or windy days, or in the middle of a ridiculous climb it’s easy to question why the hell you ride bikes in the first place.

3 Things We Love About SRAM Red eTap

3 Things

Back in February we built a Team Red Balcom S equipped with SRAM Red eTap. This bike was to serve as a show bike for photography, Sea Otter and our show room. However, it was also built for us to test ride. After riding it for the 0' - 4,000' Gibraltar ride and numerous other local rides, we have all agreed on three things we love about eTap. And it should be noted, we TRIED to think of things we don't like about it, but we simply haven't found any.

Bike of the Week - Noel's Balcom S

Noel's Balcom S

We first met Noel through a friend of ours that put together a Monday night ride, or MNR as we like to call it. His positive attitude and pure love for cycling make for a contagious personality that makes you want to ride with him all the time. Noel is a muscular guy, so muscular you might think he belongs in the NFL. And although capable on the climbs, his muscular stature favors sprinting. But his old aluminum bike just wasn’t providing the power transfer he needed to really excel on the flats.
